Institute of Cartoonists at Bangalore
The Indian Institute of Cartoonists has been set up to promote the art of cartooning in the country. The Institute based in Bangalore aims to recognise talent in the field, showcase and preserve their art for future generation, guide young and budding cartoonists and above all papularise the art among the masses.
The Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises Limited Managing Director and Institute’s Chairman Ashok Kheny launched the web site http://www.cartoonistsindia.com/ on January27th 2007. The portal features the history of cartoons in India, works of well known cartoonists such as Mario Miranda, R K Laxman, Shankar, Unny, Keshav and others. There is a section on the works of late cartoonist Rama murthy. Shortly the Institute will open exclusive cartoons gallery on MG Road Bangalore. It will feature an exhibition of cartoons by Mr. Mario Miranda during its launch. The Institute has proposed annual awards and lifetime achievement award for excellence in cartooning in India.
As per the report NICE will provide the infrastructure inside its proposed 300 acre film city near BMIC famous clove leaf intersection at Sompura.
