Priests to purify Mayan archaeological site after US president Bush Visit

Mayan priests will purify a sacred archaeological site to eliminate bad spirits after US president Bush visit next week as per JuanTiney the director of a Mayan NGO with close ties to Mayan religious and political leaders.#
Columbus discovered America in the year 1492 AD. Three thousand years before he discovered America there flourished a civilization like Harappa and Mahijodaro (between 7000 and 6000 BC) known as Mayan civilization which dates back 1500 BC and 1500 AD.
The Mayan archaeological sites spread in the region of Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras in Latin American.
Many sites range from restored remains of great cities such as Tikal and Chichen Itza to clusters of scarcely visible ruble mounds. Caves such as Naj Tunich preserve outstanding art work and inscriptions. Tools and pottery shown up in various fields and still continues today is an archaeological challenge.
The talented, literate people who developed the new world’s most complex writing system left much for scholars to digest. Spanish records provide invaluable eyewitness accounts of Mayan civilization.
The descendants of Mayans live today; at least more than four million people speak the Mayan language. Though most are now Roman Catholic, they share the ancient myths and practice rituals based on the ancestral view of the cosmos. Despite centuries of often forced change, the Maya continue to leave an indelible mark on eastern Mesoamerica where the culture was born so long ago.
